Overview
A new automotive brand called Afeela—a joint venture between Sony and Honda Mobility—will take the wraps off in 2026 with its first model, a sleek EV sedan. A prototype was unveiled in 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, showing off a handsome, understated design that’s in line with most new-to-market electric vehicles like the Lucid Air and Tesla Model S. We still don’t know what the production model will be called , but we’ve learned some interesting details about content and features. For example, a total of 45 cameras and sensors are scattered throughout the interior and exterior of the vehicle, and it features a powerful on-board computer. Other technology highlights include an advanced architecture for driver assistance systems and telematics, an enhanced infotainment system in collaboration with Epic Games and a self-driving feature.
What’s New for 2026?
The Afeela EV sedan represents the first product from an entirely new brand. The automaker expects to begin accepting orders in 2025 with North American deliveries expected to arrive in spring 2026.
Price and Which One to Buy
We don’t know the trim level structure yet, but we think the base price for such a vehicle will be around $45,000. We will update this section as more information becomes available.
Interior, Comfort and Cargo
Peeking inside the Afeela EV sedan reveals a U-shaped yoke-style steering wheel—seemingly borrowed from the Tesla Model S Plaid—among several futuristic elements. The cabin glows with ambient lighting and we can see a rotary controller in front of the center armrest to access the car’s fully digital dashboard. The general layout is simple and clean, and the cabin looks spacious for a sedan, but we won’t know more until closer to the car’s on-sale date.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The dash consists entirely of screens that stretch from door to door. From a distance, the interface reminds us of the home page you’d see on a PlayStation console—that must be Sony’s influence. Given the brand’s emphasis on software networking and user experience, we expect the infotainment system to provide smooth operation. Sony also has a lot of experience with audio, and we’re excited to see what the Afeela products will offer when it comes to quality sound systems.
Safety Features and Driver Assistance
According to the brand’s initial statement, production vehicles based on the Afeela EV sedan prototype are expected to offer Level 2 and 3 driver assistance technologies. (Level 3 allows drivers to take their hands off the wheel and handle other tasks, such as using a smartphone, in certain limited circumstances.) Features Key safeguards may include:
- Standard automatic emergency brake
- Standard lane departure warning and lane keeping assist
- Standard adaptive cruise control
As more information becomes available, we’ll update this story with more details about:
