Tesla has reduced the price of its entire range of electric vehicles by up to $3400.

Prices for the Model 3 sedan have dropped between $1600 and $3100, depending on the variant, with the range now starting at $63,900 before on-road costs for RWD and extend to $89,900 before on-road and Luxury Car Tax for Performance.

Prices for the Model Y SUV on the other hand have dropped between $1800 and $3400, depending on the variant, with the range now starting at $68,900 before on-road costs for RWD and extend to $94,900 before on-road and LCT for Performance.

This comes about six months after Tesla last raised the asking price of the Model 3 and Model Y.

There are also some options that have seen a price drop, including:

    • Red multi-coat paint: $2400 (-$500)
    • 19-inch Sport 3-wheel model: $1800 (-$400)
    • Model Y 20-inch Induction Wheels: $2400 (-$500)

Tesla has however raised the price slightly for both ordering and delivery fees. The order fee is now $50 more at $400, and the shipping fee is $25 more at $1400.

It is unclear whether current order holders will be charged this reduced price when they receive the shipment or if they will be forced to pay the price originally displayed when they placed the order.

The Chinese-made Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are currently the two best-selling EVs locally, selling 10,877 and 8717 units respectively last year. The brand has just under 20,000 deliveries locally through 2022.

As recently reported, there was a ship reportedly carrying “more than” 4000 new Teslas that reportedly docked in New South Wales on December 21 last year.

This news comes from Tesla’s delivery tracker VedaPrime which states the 4000+ vehicles on board the MSC Immacolata beat the entire first year of Model 3 delivered to Australia in just one shipment.
