Porsche has revamped its Roads app, which uses AI technology to help drivers find scenic routes around the world.
The company has opened the app to all users now so anyone can download and register for free to use the app.
Users can register using their Porsche ID or email address to access a library of scenic routes from around the world.
The company says the app’s AI can determine suitable routes based on various parameters, such as road curves, topography, landscape features and “points of interest”.
Drivers can use the app to find an A-to-B route or follow a full loop based on a location or search pin, and further adjust their search criteria by time period or direction.
If none of the preloaded routes in the app are interesting, Roads gives users the feature to create routes and share them with others in the app.
The route can also be displayed on your car’s infotainment screen via Apple CarPlay.
While the app is only available on the Apple App Store in Australia for now, Porsche has yet to confirm whether Android users will see the app in the future.
Since its launch, the app has seen more than 180,000 users sign up, and Porsche says it has continued to work on its AI algorithm.
The application has the second intention of creating a community similar to a social platform.
While users can’t communicate directly via instant messaging – there are only forum-style comments in the app – drivers can share their custom routes, create driving days with other drivers and see routes made by others in the community.
