- When the electric Ram Revolution concept was revealed, the rearmost jump seats made it a three-row pickup truck.
- Now, new photos provide a closer look at the Ram 1500 EV’s third-row seats, which may or may not be useful.
- Based on images from the concept, the two small seats each feature a lower section that folds out from the rear wall.
Anyone who’s ever sat in the little jump seats in the back of an old extended cab pickus knows they’re not very comfortable. Then again, neither is riding in the back of the truck bed, which can also be unsafe. Well, the jump seat might be making a comeback based on what we know about the recently revealed Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept. Thankfully—unlike the one in Uncle Eddie’s rusty Chevy S-10—the Ram’s electric rearmost seats are part of the temporary third row. The newly released photos also give us our best look at them yet.
From the beginning, Ram admitted that the third line of the Revolution consisted of jumping chairs. However, only now we can see what they really look like. As expected, the image shows two small seats that fold away from the back wall. It’s the same wall that serves as a center door that opens to create a larger cargo bed. Obviously, this is part of the reason the very back row had to be a jump seat.
The following debate is whether the Ram EV’s third-row seat is useful or not. We get why call it a three lines pickup trucks are a bit confusing, and also why some people might scoff at the idea of spending any length of time there. However, we think it’s an innovative idea.
As in the past, jump seats are not intended to pamper passengers on road trips and such, but rather to provide additional space for people who are short. After all, we’d rather ride safely in an electric Ram than risk bouncing around the box.
