Chery Australia has quietly raised the price between $100-$1000 on it Omoda 5 range as it switches to long-distance pricing across the country on June 1.
“Following our launch, we have adjusted our pricing and moved to nationwide drive-through pricing for the month of June,” a Chery Australia spokesperson said. Car Expert.
No changes to vehicles coincide with price changes.
The spokesperson did not confirm whether these prices, or nationwide drive-through pricing in general, would continue beyond June 30.
When the Omoda 5 went on sale earlier this year in Australia, prices varied depending on on-road costs from state to state.
Customers from Victoria pay the highest long distance prices while customers from the ACT are offered the cheapest long distance prices.
The base BX is currently priced at $32,990 drive awayan increase of $300 for Victorian buyers, $600 for those in Tasmania and Western Australia, $700 for South Australia, $800 for New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory, and $1000 for the Australian Capital Territory.
EX is currently priced at $35,990 drive awayup $100 on previous prices in Victoria, $300 in WA, $400 in Tasmania, $500 in NSW, QLD and SA, $600 in the NT and $800 in the ACT.
Chery will expand the Omoda 5 range later this year with a pair of variants with more powerful engines, one of which will offer all-wheel drive.
The EX+ and EX+ AWD will pack a 1.6-liter turbo four that produces 145kW of power and 290Nm of torque, up 30kW and 60Nm on the 1.5-liter turbo in the BX and EX.
They’ll also swap out the torsion beam rear suspension for a multi-link set-up, and ditch the continuously variable transmission for a seven-speed dual-clutch auto.
Chery will also launch the electric Omoda 5 in the first half of 2024, to serve as a rival to the MG ZS EV and BYD Atto 3.

Omoda 5 EV
It will feature a 61kWh battery, with a claimed range of 450km based on the WLTP cycle.
Power will come from an electric motor that produces 150kW power and 340Nm of torque. It will be capable of V2L (vehicle to load) charging, which allows you to use the vehicle’s battery to power the equipment.
Chery has sold 1009 Omoda 5 vehicles since its launch earlier this year. It has outsold the Honda HR-V (795), Jeep Compass (648), Renault Arkana (575) and Skoda Kamiq (784) so far in 2023.
Omoda 5, however, was sold out by GWM Haval Jolion (4458) and MG ZS (9823).
