Honda’s US luxury spinoff is getting ready to reveal its take on the Civic Type R.
The Acura Integra Type S will feature the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine as the Civic Type R, but will pack 320hp (239kW) instead of the 315hp (235kW) you get in the Honda. Every horse counts, right?
It’s set to debut at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Long Beach on April 14 but will likely remain a North American-only prospect since Acura’s models are built in the United States, primarily for North America.
Along with its (slightly) more powerful engine, the Type S will feature a more aggressive look than the standard car, a subtle rear spoiler and a more aggressive wheel and tire package than stock.
The same triple exhaust found on the Civic will also make an appearance.
Acura is bringing back the Integra nameplate in March 2022. Unlike the previous two-door, the new version is a five-door liftback designed for more practicality.
It’s worth noting that the first-generation Integra was offered with a five-door body as well.
In China, the Integra is available with a Honda badge. However, this is just a rebadged Civic.
