Overview
Angry sports car looks and stinging performance are two aspects of the greatness of the old Mercedes-AMG GT coupe, a car that left the market with a scream from its ferocious twin-turbo V-8 at the end of the 2021 model year. We expect that spirit to carry over when an all-new GT coupe model arrives for 2025. The new coupe is said to be based on the current SL roadster, a car that has proven to be unexpectedly hot as well as very luxurious. The proportions of the coupe will probably mimic the parts Mercedes-AMG SL 2023 class, and we expect the interior to be similar as well. We’re not sure, however, if the coupe will keep the open-top twin-turbo V-8 powerplant; it could potentially offer a similar hybrid setup with four doors AMG GT63 S Performance or it could do away with the V-8 altogether and switch to a four-cylinder hybrid setup like Mercedes-AMG C63. Regardless of its propulsion system, we expect that AMG will deliver a sports coupe full of beauty, luxury and out-of-my-way performance.
What’s New for 2025?
The Mercedes-AMG GT sports coupe is expected to be an all-new model for the 2025 model year, and may launch in the second half of the 2024 calendar year.
Price and Which One to Buy
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT is the new hardtop version of the slinky roadster. The trim level structure has yet to be confirmed, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see AMG offer a rowdier, more capable and more expensive variant alongside the standard GT.
