Seven seats Jeep Grand Cherokee L has acquired a fourth variant for 2023, just below the peak range of the Summit Reserve.
The familiar Overland trim is back, on both the new shorter five-seat bodystyle and the longer L that arrived locally last year.
In L, it is priced at $103,250 before on-road costs, helping fill the gap between the Limited ($88,750 on-road) and the Summit Reserve ($119,450 list). Prices for the transfer range are unchanged from last year.
The Overland features the Summit Reserve’s more advanced Quadra-Trac II four-wheel drive system with Quadra-Lift adaptive air suspension and hill descent control.

On land
It also includes some of its luxury features such as a hands-free power tailgate and panoramic sunroof, but omits some of its premium features such as semi-automatic parking assist and a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system.
20-inch alloy wheels are standard, with 18-inch alloys – the smallest in the L range – optional.
It comes as part of the optional Off-Road Group package, which also adds an electronic limited-slip differential, a 230mm rear axle, and skid plate shields for the front suspension, transfer case and fuel tank.
All models continue to use the naturally aspirated 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine. A turbo plug-in hybrid four-cylinder will join the Grand Cherokee lineup this year but only in a shorter two-row body, while there’s no diesel this generation and no gasoline V8 offered here.
Elsewhere in the range, the Limited has what Jeep calls TechnoLeather upholstery instead of Capri leather, while the Night Eagle has been upgraded to the same 10.1-inch touchscreen as the rest of the range, ditching the smaller 8.4-inch unit.
